Today we took a day trip to nearby Flamingo Gardens. It is a 60 acre wildlife sanctuary with specialty gardens and native Florida wildlife. They take in injured animals and house them. Hawks, owls and other winged creatures can be found. Yes, they do have Flamingos. Most of the birds are housed in their own cages however they do have an aviary where many of them roam free. Alligators, bobcats, river otters, and tortoises also live there. There are several beautiful gardens where many tropical flowers flourish. If you are interested, go to flamingogardens.org.
